A 30k cycle ride that was fun if a little wet.
After a couple of gorgeously sunshiny days, unfortunately this morning dawned dull and cloudy, and the weather forecast was not much more optimistic. Still, Saturday morning is Saturday morning; for me the best day to get out and about. I fancied a bike ride today, so I planned a 30 km route, got the bike out and set off. Still no hint of sunshine, so I thought I’d set the camera to black-and-white, if only to give me an excuse to use the blog title!
At this point it began to rain, but I remained optimistic that it would clear up. After all, a bit of rain wasn’t putting these little guys off …

At this stage I got a little bit lost, but I didn’t mind as I came across this place …
It’s an old brewery, based around a tower that dates back to the 14th century.
Obviously in this area of Belgium they like their beer …
And then as the clouds darkened further (I think I counted the 51st shade of grey) I crossed the River Demer.

By this stage the rain was quite heavy, and I soon got rather wet.
A poetic reflection on a morning well-spent 😉
Thanks Guido!
Thank you for sharing your morning ride out and about and hope you’ve dried off and warmed up. 🙂
Yes, just about dry now Judy!
These photos really give a sense of the day and it looks like you enjoyed in spite of the rain. Mr ET would love to visit that brewery.
If Mr ET likes visiting breweries, Belgium’s the place to be.

Well, we drank enough the last time we were there to keep the breweries in business for a while. I’m not a beer drinker usually but I even tried a few. We also did a beer tour in Brussels. It was great fun.
Great post, Denzil! Black and white photography does the Belgian weather justice, doesn’t it? 🙂
Absolutely! Sometimes even a full colour photo looks black and white!
