Blow away those cobwebs with a walk along the seashore. Start at Oostende and turn right. Walk a couple of hours along the beach until you reach the lovely seaside resort of De Haan where you can stop for lunch. Onwards then to Blankenberge. You can then catch the coastal tram back to Oostende.

I reach the halfway point on the GR 571 long-distance path through the Ardennes. Yes, I did survive the cold night, and getting up early enabled me to experience the dawn chorus.

Stage 3 of the GR 571: more steep climbs, more snow, more great views, more fun! I come across plenty of reminders that this area was in the middle of a huge conflict during the Second World War, and experienced a wonderful climb with some great views from the top.

I set off on the first stage of the GR 571 long-distance path in the Belgian Ardennes. I quickly get confused as to which path to take, but the diversion gave me great views. Oh, the temperature was below zero! Brrr!
