Het Vinne. Great for kids. And sometimes for dogs

Zoutleeuw tower

If you’ve got children and are getting short on ideas for a pleasant day out, then I recommend the provincial park “Het Vinne” near Zoutleeuw in Limburg. It’s basically a nature reserve located around a large lake, but also has an extensive children’s playground, an educational visitor centre, signposted walks of various lengths, and a bistro. So hopefully a bit of everything, to keep everyone in the family occupied for a few hours. It’s open all day, every day, and entry is free. And if you’ve got dogs, Wednesday 15 August 2014 might interest you as it’s the annual Het Vinne Dog Walking Day. More info on the Het Vinne website.
