A beautiful photo book by Bart Heirweg that documents the war sites and landscapes in Flanders Fields.
“Silent Fields” is a gorgeously produced photo book by Belgian photographer Bart Heirweg. It’s the result of his two years of work exploring 150 military cemeteries, battlefields and war landscapes in Flanders.
Silent Fields is wonderfully evocative, and some of the photos simply take your breath away. The book captures the best of Bart’s 16,000 photos that he took for this project. It is now sold out, but check out Bart’s website for details of his other excellent work.
Thanks for the tip, Denzil! I’ve just ordered a copy — beautiful photos just in time for the WWI centenary.
Happy holidays! Wendy
I followed the link and these photos brought back memories of our visit to these places. How gorgeous.
Apparently he got up before dawn for months on end and trekked out to these places to get the best light.
Well his efforts paid off. The photos are lovely.
