Meet the artist: Olivier Van Dam
Olivier Van Dam is the artist behind these works of Belgian modern art. Born and bred in Brussels, Olivier started painting 20 years ago. He is strongly inspired by cities, and is always checking out the latest street art. It’s clear that he loves to capture the explosivity, noise and dynamism of modern-day city life in his artwork.
The other characteristic that comes out is his use of vibrant, hot and spicy colors. Actually, “hot and spicy” refers to another aspect of Oliver’s life. In his nine-to-five life he’s a chef. He used to run a popular restaurant in Brussels. Now he is chef at a large international school in Brussels.
Olivier describes his paintings as a mix of chaos and hope: “Life is chaotic, and rarely goes according to plan,” he says. “But at heart I am an optimist. So in my paintings I try to represent chaos and confusion, but always with a strong, bright hope for a better world.”
Olivier doesn’t paint with paint brushes, but with knives and wall scrapers.

How to order Olivier’s artwork?
If you are interested in any of these pieces of Belgian modern art, drop Oliver an email. If you would like a frame, this can also be arranged. He would need to know the type of frame and color that you prefer.

Very talented! My favourites are numbers 2 and 11.
Shipping might be a slight problem Carol 🙂
At the current exchange rate, I’d have to sell my house to buy a painting Denzil and then I wouldn’t have anywhere to hang it. 🙂 Best I just admire from afar.
Olivia’s art is full of energy – wonderful to see.
Yes Sharon, bright and positive. Just what the doctor orders!
I’ve no idea Frag! And didn’t realize this either. I’ll look into it! P.S. (later) – I’ve sorted it. You should see the whole thing now. Can you let me know if you can’t? Thanks for the heads-up.
Yep the whole enchilada is there now! I love his work and I’m not usually a fan of abstract stuff, these are great.
Thanks for checking!
Great works of art. They surely stand out. I’m curious: does he not name his paintings?
Apparently not Liesbet. I’ll ask him next time I see him.
