Discover What Happened On This Day in Belgium

On This Day in Belgium gives an overview of key events in Belgium’s history since the country was first established in 1830.

The 1st of January 2022 seems to be a good day to launch a new project on Discovering Belgium. It’s something that I’ve been working on over the past year. It’s a page that enables you to search for a specific day and discover what happened on that day in Belgium. It covers events since the country was first established as an independent nation in 1830.

Currently it includes 385 events but it’s an evolving project; I am constantly adding to it as I delve deeper into the nation’s history. And also, of course, as I add current events. I’m aware that I don’t yet have references to all the events, particularly those that took place way long before the arrival of the Internet. So please be patient while I add those.

I hope it will be of use to anyone with an interest in Belgium, and hopefully may be useful as an educational resource for schools and history buffs.
